Flake vs Metallic Epoxy: Which Floor Should You Choose?

A flake floor is vinyl chip broadcast into a wet base coat, then sealed. The chips hide dust and tire marks, add texture underfoot, and give a consistent, forgiving look across a large space.

• Best for: working garages, workshops, gyms, and anywhere grip matters.
• Look: speckled, uniform, dozens of color blends to choose from.
• Maintenance: extremely forgiving — dirt does not show.

Metallic pours

A metallic floor is pigment suspended in clear resin and worked by hand while wet. No two are the same, and the depth reads more like polished stone than a coating.

• Best for: showpiece garages, basements, showrooms, retail, and living spaces.
• Look: reflective, marbled, one-of-a-kind movement.
• Maintenance: shows dust more than flake, but wipes clean easily.

How to decide

If the space works for a living — tools, lawn equipment, muddy boots — go flake. If the space is meant to be seen, go metallic. If you want both, we frequently run metallic in the main bay and flake in the utility area.
