How to Prepare Your Garage for an Epoxy Install

A short checklist of what to do before install day so your floor goes down on schedule and cures correctly.

Before we arrive

Everything on the floor has to come off it. A clear slab is the difference between a one-day install and a two-day one.

  • Remove vehicles, tools, shelving, and anything stored directly on the floor.
  • Empty and unplug garage refrigerators or freezers if they sit on the slab.
  • Clear a path to an exterior outlet and a water source.
  • Let us know about any past coating, sealer, or paint on the concrete.

What install day looks like

We grind the slab with dust-contained diamond equipment, repair cracks and pits, then apply the base coat and broadcast or pour your finish. The clear topcoat follows once the base has set.

Expect noise during grinding and low odor during the coating stages. You do not need to be home the whole time, but we like to walk the space with you at the start and the end.

After the pour

Foot traffic is usually fine within 24 hours and vehicles within 48 to 72 hours depending on the system and the weather. We will give you exact times before we leave, along with a simple maintenance rundown.
